A Bold New Chapter for Community-Based Youth Football in the Twin Cities Metro and Greater Minnesota

Spring Lake Park, MN – May 29, 2025 – Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (MYAS), in partnership with Managing Directors Dawson Blanck, Kevin Johnston, and John Swanson, proudly announces the launch of the Gopher State Football League (GSFL), set to begin in August of 2025. This league is a dynamic new platform designed to strengthen and unify community-based youth football associations and teams across the Twin Cities metro area and beyond.

The GSFL is committed to promoting sportsmanship, safety, and fair play, while offering a positive and development-focused environment for youth football players. By incorporating Trusted Coaches and Trusted Officials, the league ensures that all coaches and officials complete minimum requirements of training, screening, and education to create a safer and more supportive atmosphere for players. League operations will be managed through the RegisterPlay platform, streamlining scheduling, communication, and team administration for organizations and families.

The GSFL has already received commitments from 30 youth football associations, including: Andover, Anoka, Apple Valley, Armstrong, Blaine, Bloomington, Brooklyn Center, Burnsville, Centennial, Champlin Park, Chisago Lakes, Columbia Heights, Coon Rapids, Cooper, Elk River, Forest Lake, Fridley, Irondale, Monticello, North Branch, Osseo, Park Center, Minneapolis Phelps, Rogers, Shakopee, Spring Lake Park, St. Francis, St. Paul Frogtown, and Westside Boosters.

To help organizations prepare for the inaugural season, the GSFL will host a virtual outreach session on June 9, 2025, from 7:30-8:30pm CDT. This session will provide key information and guidance for league leaders, coaches, and administrators.
