GSBL Players of the Week - Week 1

Congratulations to our Week 1 Players of the Week, presented by Arctic Mechanical!  The players below were nominated for outstanding performances for the week of May 6th-May 12th and voting took place from May 14th-May 20th.

9AA - District 1

Easton D.
Monticello

Easton paced the Monticello offense, batting 1.000 over the course of the week.  His three hits included a 2 RBI single, a 2-run double and a Grand Slam, totaling 8-RBI.  He also punched out three batters in his 1.1 innings on the mound! Easton and Big Lakes' Kevin T. tied with 45% of the vote, both receiving over 1,450 votes!

Big Lake

Kevin and the Big Lake 9AA team are off to a 4-0 start.  Kevin hit .583 with two doubles and 4 RBI to help pace the offense.  On the mound he threw 2.1 innings and struck out three hitters.  His coach says, "He leads the team with his positive attitude and strong work ethic. He is great teammate and we are lucky to have him." Along with Easton from Monticello, he also garnered 45% of the vote!

10AAA - District 1

Connor O.
Champlin Park

Connor has led a strong start to the season for Champlin Park, hitting .583 and getting on-base at a .615 clip.  His seven hits included a double, a triple, and drove in 5.  He's been a dude on the mound as well, striking out 10 batters across six innings, to the tune of a 1.50 ERA.  

From the coach: "Great start to the season across the board. Connor has been a leader for the 10U AAA Rebels team as the season has gotten underway."

11AA - District 1

Ethan S.
Zimmerman

Ethan racked up 13 hits, including two doubles and two triples, hitting .684. He had a stellar 2.25 ERA across 4 innings, including 6 strikeouts.

From the coach: "Ethan has been hammering the ball, throwing darts, and having fun with his team. He’s a fantastic role model!"

12AA - District 1

Benson S.
Zimmerman

Benson had a week, with a .643 batting average and .706 OBP.  That contact came with some damage as he racked up 4 doubles among 9 hits and drove in 11 runners.  He may have been even better on the mound where he tallied 11 strikeouts across 8.2 innings with a 0.80 ERA.

13A - District 1

Gavin J.
OMGAA Gold

Gavin paced OMGAA Gold on the mound over the course of the week, striking out 11 hitters in just 5 innings of work.  With an .818 OBP and .667 batting average, he's no slouch at the plate either.  He used his speed to leg out two triples among his four hits.

From the coach: "Gavin comes to the field every day to compete at his highest level. He has always has a positive attitude and puts forth 100 percent effort all of the time."

13AA - District 1

Grant K.
Sauk Rapids-Rice

Grant hammered the ball this week, with 11 hits including 3 doubles.  That was good for a .733 batting average and drove in 8 runs to go with it.

From the coach: "Grant is a great player who's hitting has improved greatly over the last year. He has a positive attitude and is confident at the plate. Grant is a positive influence to his team and the game of baseball. He works hard and holds himself accountable for mistakes to ensure that they do not have happen again.  We are lucky to have him on our team."

14AA - District 1

Jafton B.
Sartell

Jafton started the season off strong with a 3-4 performance for Sartell.  The three hits included a double and he stole a base and scored a run to start the season off on the right foot.
