This past weekend MYAS hosted the Girls Grade State Championships grades 3-8 at 14 different sites, marking the 32nd year of the popular event featuring teams from across the state. The growth of the tournament has once again exceeded the previous year.
It was all hands on deck in Coon Rapids this past weekend as one of several locations across the State of Minnesota hosting the MYAS Grade State Boys Basketball Championship, ages 3rd through 6th grade. Coon Rapids High School, Spring Lake Park High School and several others welcoming this year’s end of season tournament.
It was a record-setting year at the MYAS Grade State Championships that wrapped up this past weekend with the 7th and 8th grade boys tournament. In all, 1,540 teams participated over three weekends in what has become the largest tournament of its kind anywhere in the country. The record-breaking year was made possible due to the increased awareness of MYAS programs and high participation in the various communities by families, coaches, and players across the state of Minnesota.
It wasn’t that long ago when a player would get cut from his high school basketball team that it would mark the end of his competitive playing days. And while several high schools offer intramural programs for those players, none offer what MYAS is now doing with its brand new Rising Stars High School League.
