Thank you to everyone who helped make this tournament a success. 988 wrestlers invaded Monticello in mid-February for the 2010 Gopher State Wrestling Championships. The field included athletes from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri, Illinois, Wyoming and Louisiana. We had great competition and the tournament flowed very well. The Gopher State Championship is truly one of the toughest K-8 folkstyle events in the Midwest.

The MYAS Gopher State Wrestling Championships has earned the reputation of being the toughest and best run K-8 folkstyle tournament in Minnesota. In 2009 we had 900 wrestlers. The tournament has drawn wrestlers from Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, North and South Dakota, Nebraska, Missouri, Michigan and California. Wrestlers from all states are eligible to participate in all Gopher State wrestling events.
The 2010 Gopher State Championship is scheduled for February 13-14. The tournament will once again be held at Monticello High School, which is quite possibly the best wrestling facility in the state.
